Skimming is Cool

Description

A juvenile black skimmer has fledged and learned how to skim the water for food. Skimmers have a graceful flight and get their name from their ability to skim along the surface and scoop up fish with their beek. They catch their prey by touch and often hunt at night. This one was skimming the water on a warm August evening in the Panhandle of Florida where there are breeding colonies.
